Sucessful Animal Week

>> Wednesday, November 24, 2010

To my surprise, the animal kingdom toys bought on Friday is still Alaric's favourite daily must have toys. Normally his toys ne'er lasted him more than 2-3 days. Haha.
Maybe it's due to the reinforcement of the library books we borrowed on Sunday. All books were about animals. Below is a book of Animal Nursery Rhymes. And Old MacDonald has a Farm was his favourite!
Did I mentioned that I sung maybe hundred times of Old MacDonald everyday?! Sigh. He loves pointing to different animals, requesting me to sing as he dances(shaking backside), making different animals sounds - moo moo, baa baa, woof woof, nay nay, quack quack, pok pok and tweet tweet(birds on tree). Thank goodness that's all the animals on the page of the book.

I also downloaded some animals applications on my iPhone for him to play with. He does play with my iPhone in the morning when he just wakie and I am still zzz and also before he goes to bed at night.
Overall I think this week of Animals Week was a successful one. Next week, he will be going to school. Hope he learns new stuff and share with me when home. I am sick of speaking animals. :p

Our Little Garden

>> Sunday, November 21, 2010

We went to a nursery along Katong Road after our breakfast at ECP and library visit.

This is my first pot of plants. Don't they look like Christmas leaves? They cost $25 - 3 plants and pots and repotting soil. Not cheap. Paid by Hubbs, a gift for me! THANKS to dear Hubbs!

Hubbs gotten himself a pot of 铁树. He had always wanted to get one from IKEA but we never seem to find time to go there. Plant and pot and repotting soil only at $15. His plant seems to be a better deal. Haha.
And not forgetting our "older" members of the garden. They are all gifts from my dearest 姑姑s.
Money plant and dunno what plant they called.

Young gardener in training.

Hope the little garden of ours will nurture Alaric to love and care for plants.

Worries of a Gan Chiong Mummy

It's only about 10 more days before Alaric starts his preschool in December.
I am so worried about everything. The starting of preschool changes our whole lifestyle. I am worried about almost everything you can think of:-
1- his adaptation to school
2- eating meals in school as he is still on porridge for both lunch and dinner
3- napping in school
4- crying in school
5- building his immunity system in school
6- whether this school will be the one for him
I really do hope things will turn out well and he will enjoy school.
Sigh. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Pretty Pajamas

>> Thursday, November 18, 2010

I cannot resist buying pretty pajamas for Alaric although no one sees them at night.
I recently bought him 4 sets of pajamas to replace his old pajamas which is already too short to cover his tummy and legs with all this turning and tossing at night.
This is one of the pajamas which I like best.

A bit early for X'mas, isn't it?

The socks are reindeer design! I also buy some new socks for my growing rascal. Also stocking enough for school starting in December as it's a fully air conditioned preschool.

Picasso at work!

>> Tuesday, November 16, 2010

We bought several items for some art fun at home.

We did some hand painting today and it was quite a successful one. Trick is not to put the pail of water for washing near the work place as he will play with water instead.

Dipping his hands into the palette.

Stamping his hand onto the MJ paper.

Fingers can paint too.

Dirty fingers!

His thighs are so colorful too!

Finished master piece!

Finger painting

>> Tuesday, November 9, 2010

Sigh. It's quite a failure as he was more interested in the pail of water for washing up than the paints. He goes "dirty, dirty" all the way.

Shall wait till he is bigger to try exploring finger painting or even fruits painting for Alaric.

He is the King!

I used to be the "queen" in the house. I will get things I wanted (I work for it) and live life in reasonably luxury.

Upon arrival of Alaric, our dearest son, things changed. He is now the "King" in the house.

He wears premium diapers - Pampers, Mamy Poko and Huggies Ultra. Thank goodness we don't need any of those.
He drinks nutritious milk - Enfa Grow. We drink plain water.
He eats organic products - Vegs, Purees and Snacks. We eat house brand snacks.
He uses creams that we don't bear to use - California Baby. We use Johnson Baby.
He is dressed better than us - GAP, Old Navy, Carters and Osh Kosh. We buy from lelong lelong.
His room is full of Fisher Price toys. We had not been buying gadgets for the longest time.
He goes to the best school we think we can afford. We stop dreaming about furthering our studies.
He visits the best PD we have visited. We take panadol and eat Po-Chi Pills.

We have became "servants" to the "King"...... .... ...

But we are happy parents as we have a happy little rascal in the house. I think being parents, sacrificing is also a joy!

Movie and Lunch

>> Thursday, November 4, 2010

We watch a movie while Alaric take his afternoon nap.

An award winning Swedish show.
Thumbs up!
To find out more about the show:
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Girl_with_the_Dragon_Tattoo?wasRedirected=true

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (original title in Swedish: Män som hatar kvinnor – "Men Who Hate Women") is an award-winning crime novel by Swedish author and journalist Stieg Larsson, the first in his Millennium Trilogy.

At his death in November 2004, Larsson left three unpublished novels that made up the trilogy. It became a posthumous best-seller in several European countries as well as in the United States.[1] Larsson, who was disgusted by sexual violence, witnessed the gang rape of a young girl when he was 15. He never forgave himself for failing to help the girl, whose name was Lisbeth - like the young heroine of his books, herself a rape victim, which inspired the theme of sexual violence against women in his books.[2]

His First Studio Photoshoot

>> Wednesday, November 3, 2010

We had a great photo shoot session on Saturday.
Me, Hubbs, Alaric and my FIL were all involved in it. We took photos of all of us-family photo, me and rascal, Hubbs with rascal, FIL with rascal, me and Hubbs and rascal, me and Hubbs, FIL with Hubbs and of course Alaric's solo shots.
After the morning photo session, we went to Yum Char for dim sum lunch. I always like to find time to dine out together as a family. FIL has irregular working hours thus he seldom go out. Meal time also irregular. So it's good to spend time outside shopping and having great food.
We enjoy and cherish such moments. Especially when Alaric behaves himself and never give us a hard time when we spend time outside.
I am looking forward to view all the photos ready for selection 2 weeks later.
Will update again.

(Self make up for the photoshoot)
