No more teary Goodbye

>> Thursday, December 30, 2010

Despite the morning fussiness he had at home that made me scolded and put him at "naughty" corner, he didn't cry at goodbye at school today!!
First he said "No.No." when we are alighting the cab. When we are at the gate, he said "Mummy!". When Teacher took over and carried him, there is no crying nor sobbing. He bided me goodbye reluctantly when Teacher ask him to say and kiss goodbye. He was still sobbing yesterday at gate during goodbye.
This week is the longest week of school we attended. We have never attended a full week before since December. We are going to achieve that. It's Friday tomorrow! I am so proud of him. Hope he doesn't cry at pick up like yesterday and have more of his lunch at school. Did I mention that he self feed his porridge lunch yesterday? He took half a bowl.
I am looking forward for him to have full meal at school so we need not have lunch at home again. This actually delays his usual nap time at about 1+pm to around 2.30pm. And late afternoon nap delays his night sleep time. Thus affecting his wakie time. School nap time is around 12.30pm. If all adjustments is good and he is adapting well to all the timing, we may start him on full day to try. My only concern is eating and sleeping issues.
Anyway I had my breakfast while blogging. Will laze around a while, playing games and blogging and fb-ing before I head to Parkway Parade to do some shopping. Most shops are only opened at 11am. So I have maybe around half an hour to shop before I fly back to school and pick Alaric up at 11.45am.
Will peek and update before I go PP. Sad that I didn't managed to see him as he was in the room.
The shopping trip was an unfruitful one. Never buy anything. But I never leave empty handed. I went to the library to borrow 6 more books for Alaric. The library is having "promotion" - instead of 6, you may loan up to 12 books per card till 31st of Jan 2011.
Reached school at 1145am. No crying from him! But today's lunch was noodle and he didn't eat much. Hope he eat well soon!

School Crying

>> Tuesday, December 28, 2010

We reached school at 930am. Crying seems worst today. I hope he don't puke out his medication again like yesterday.
Principal is not here today again. That means no reply to my email and also cannot call to check if Alaric has stopped crying. I believe the teachers will be busy with the children thus calling to check is tough when principal is not around.
I am now having my breakfast, worrying about my son's situation. Sigh. Wonders if I will worry so much if I were to change to the 1st choice school of mine. Anyway I will be heading to Marine Parade library after my breakfast. Return books that are due today and also to borrow new books for Alaric. He had not been showing keen interests in books recently. Must get him involve in book reading again. This is the best age for him to build his vocabulary. I do not want to miss this period when he absorb like a sponge.
Will go peek at him before I set off to the library.
Update at 1040.
No crying. Did not puke. He was running and playing in the room when I peeked at him. Off the the library with a light heart.
Picked him up at 1130am as it's seems that it's going to rain. No crying, no pacifier too. He had half serving of lunch. :)
Hope it gets better day by day!

Giddy Spells

I had been having giddy spells for many occasion in the month of December. Felt like vomiting and felt that the world is spinning. A ball pressing on my chest from inside my body.
And sometimes even puke if I were to have oily food. The feeling sucks. I think I gotta eat healthy and drink DOM daily. Hope that will improve my health situation.
A healthier 2011, a better me!

School after a long haul

It's finally school again! He stopped school since Wednesday as advised from PD. It is frustrating that he had to stop school as he was already showing improvements. But we don't have a choice as he was not well since beginning of December!
Today he woke up only at 925am and did I mention school starts at 9am? It may be due to too much fun he had over the weekend and he woke up twice in the middle of the night too. He was super cranky and clingy when he woke up! (Maybe becoz I try to wake him by taking out his pacifier? ;p) We managed to rush to school after his milk, wash up and medication, reached at 1010am. It's indeed quite near to our place.
He said "No.No" when the cab reached school. Called out for "PaPa" when Teacher Wang carried him. Cried when we bided goodbye! I really hope we don't have to go through this again. For the whole month of December, he never attend a full week of school. The most was 3 days consecutively. How to go on full day when he cannot even adjust to half day!?
I think I am so stressed up about his schooling issues and should take it easier and give him more time. Lower the expectation and thus not so tensed up everyday! Maybe expect to start work little later too. Pay little more for his fees as I will not have the working mummy subsidy in this case. I think I am too eager to contribute to the family too. Keeping my fingers crossed that all will turn out well.
Will pick him up at 1145am later.
He was still tearing when I picked him up. His right toe was bleeding and I am sad to say that no teachers noticed his injury.

They said it may to due to the outdoor play but nonetheless I felt that they should be more attentive. I meant they should have checked each child after the outdoor play. Definitely he will cry when he was hurt but no teachers take notice to it. Not blaming anyone but things can be improved. I would have felt better if any teacher notice and let me know that my child is hurt and how and when.
Aside all the negative, he took half serving of lunch today! That is something to cheer about.
Hope things will be better after feedback to principal.

Peaceful Christmas eve.....

>> Saturday, December 25, 2010

We brought Alaric to PD again to get antibiotics in the morning. We never want him to have antibiotics unless necessary. Our usual PD is also one that prefers the child to "heal" and let his immunity fight for recovery. This time round, he had been sick for a while thus we felt that we don't want him to drag the illness and antibiotics should be given since he is constantly attacked by virus in school. We drop by Telok Kurau Animal Clinic to get heartguard for Porky after that. Then home for lunch and his nap.

We then went grocery shopping at Shop and Save. Thank goodness it didn't rain on us! After that we went home to cook a simple pasta meal.

Alaric opened his pressies and had a goodnight zzz while me and Hubbs enjoyed wine and countdown to Xmas! We wii-ed and had fun!

It's really a 平安夜!
Looking forward to party at TPY on Xmas day!
More pressies for my rascal!

Its his phlegm!
So green!

We went to PD yesterday yesterday. Was given stronger medication than those we had at home since there is no signs of recovery for his cold.
He was given MC till end of the week. I am hoping that he can return to school tomorrow as he was doing well on Monday and Tuesday and momentum was broken since yesterday. Hope he can adjust well after the break.
In fact both daddy and mummy are also sick with greenish phlegm too.
Hope all have a good Xmas and new year, without illness!!
Happy Xmas Eve Eve!

Improvements in School

>> Tuesday, December 21, 2010

We can see improvements in Alaric in school today! He didn't cry at gate nor door. Only cried when teacher carry him while I bided goodbye! I left him at 9am.
He was still crying at the gate yesterday. But didn't cry when I pick him up. He still insisted and drag me into school, shown me around a little.
I do hope all is well in school today as he didn't sleep well last night, waking and crying almost every hour. It seems that his other molar is also trying to break through. And not forgetting the nightmares he had that made him cry and wail at night.
Not getting ample sleep makes both mummy and toddler cranky and moody. Hunger made things worst. Alaric couldn't have his cereal breakfast as he kept making the signs that he wanna vomit. Suspected that he is not feeling well as he somehow resisted his morning milk. I hope he dun puke in school as he just can't seems to burp his morning feed. I am now having sinful breakfast of half boiled egg set with coffee and toast. Hope I feel brighter later of the day at least.
Will checked on him later around 1030am. Yawn.
Updates at 945am
Just passed Principal and teachers little Christmas pressies to thank them for their patience and care for Alaric. The principal was a very kind and shy lady and was like feeling thankful for the pressie. She goes: No lar no lar you shouldn't have. I am glad to have her as the principal as she is always giving me reassurance and updates of Alaric's progress in school. She takes feedback positively too.
Off to parkway to grab some things from SKP and do some shopping if shops are open so early.(I hope they are open but am doubtful!)
To my surprise, quite a number of shops are already opened and I even went shopping in parkway parade.
By the time I pick up Alaric was already 1130am and he didn't cry when see me! Proud of my rascal!!

Scary fees - preschool vs university fees

Alaric's fees is SGD14,400(before govt subsidy) which I already feel that its relatively high.

Comparing to NUS fees of SGD19,720(subsidised fees for Singaporean), I wonder if some Preschool really overcharges the parents.
Poor parents, gotta work double hard to send kids to good school.

I am a Venusian

Quoted from Man are from Mars, Woman are from Venus.
"For a Venusian, the way to feel better is to talk. So many woman today, are putting on Martian suits, working and not getting their emotional needs met during the day. Now, more than anytime in history, woman need to talk in order to find balance and wholeness. "

But I am one weird Venusian whom had been conditioned to stop talking, to clam up so there will be lesser issues and conflicts. I find talking is a hassle and problem causing.

Maybe that's why I can never find balance and wholeness. I don't know how to talk anymore.

School updates

Yesterday Hubbs was on medical leave as we are all down with flu. (Alaric spread to us!) So he came along with me to pick up Alaric at school. Instead of me picking him up, Hubbs suggested that he do the picking up instead. And surprisingly, he didn't cry at all like how he would when I go pick him up. No tears, No screaming of "MeMe" or "UpUp"!! I am so proud as we do see improvements to his adaptability and teachers did mentioned that he may be able to adapt by next week. I do hope to put him full day by Jan 2011.
Goodbyes are still a teary and heartbreaking event. He was still crying today and seems to cry more. I suspect it's due to the fact that Hubbs was also around to drop him off today. I bet saying goodbye to two people is tougher than saying goodbye to one person.
I bet Hubbs also felt the ache when he sees his son crying badly at goodbye. But he comforted me by saying that Alaric had to go through this when he go army too. How to compare when he is less than two years old and when he is at least eighteen years old!? Silly man!
Anyway he called me after he left the premise, asking me to snap pictures of Alaric if I can. I knew he was worried and soft hearted. He was the one whom kept on going back to school and peep and Alaric yesterday. And today still ask me to snap pictures when he knows that peeping is already challenging as Alaric may see us through the window and that will make him cry more.
I mocked at him saying that he can try asking the officer-in-charge to help is take pictures when Alaric is in camp and mms us, prepare lunchbox for him daily to camp and go peep at him when he is in camp training. Hahaha! Alaric is our darling rascal forever!
Anyway I do hope his crying stop soon. But one thing I am happy is that there is GymKids at 10.45am! He will be happy about that for sure! I will go peep at him during gym play.

For now I will just enjoy my breakfast at the coffeeshop beside his school.

Peeped at him during GymKids at 1050am. He was not crying. Walking around without pacifier and Bert. (yes dunno why he had been asking for pacifier even after he wakie past 3 days)
Will be picking him up at 11.45am. Hope that he have at least little lunch in school and no crying when I pick him up.
Picked him up at 11.40am. No crying but sure looked happy to see me. He was holding Bert and eating pacifier when I saw him. Teacher said he didn't eat lunch - Mee Tai Bak and also didn't want the infant porridge.
He was quite clingy when home despite the fact that he didn't cry. He rejected lunch and wanted me to carry. Pacifier cannot be removed as he will cry for it. Milk time was difficult as well.
I hope its due to teething issues and no other reason as he was a little warm to touch.

Our first 2010 Christmas Party was at Alaric's school on Friday!
The kids at school performed for the parents and family. Their performance was great and everyone enjoyed their singing and dancing.
Alaric did cry when he reach school and stopped once he realized that we didn't pass him to the teachers and many people were there to see some performance. Haha.

Overall, I think he had fun and I hope he would not cry so much on Monday.
